Step 2: Decide What You Want Back
At drop-off, let us know:
-
Do you want a restored print, a digital file, or both?
-
What size print you have in mind (including any enlargements)?
-
Which paper type you prefer (textured matte, standard luster, glossy, matte, metallic, fine art, canvas, etc.)? Many vintage photos were printed on a flat matte which is very different that our standard luster paper.
Step 3: Questions We’ll Ask at Drop-Off
-
Borders: Does the original have a border? Do you want one on the restored print?
-
Detail Level: Does the image have intricate or heavy detail (lace, fine hair, ornate clothing)? This will affect the estimate and final price.
-
Enlargement Plans: Do you plan to enlarge this image?
-
With high-resolution scanning we can print much larger than the original, but sharpness and clarity depend on the source photo and viewing distance.
-
We offer test prints if you’d like to check clarity before ordering a very large print.
-
-
Purpose: Is this for a funeral or memorial service?
-
We make every effort to move funeral orders to the front of the line during this difficult time.
-
We can also create life collages, large prints, and framed displays for memorials.
-
-
Paper Choice: Is standard luster paper sufficient, or would you like a specialty finish?
-
Reference Images: Do you have an additional photo to help us match coloring?
-
Color Tone: Do you like the current tone (warm, cool, sepia) or want it adjusted?
